Detailed 8 Days Ndutu Calving Migration Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Arusha

Pick up from the airport by an experienced driver guide from Bushtroop Tours & Safaris who will transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha where you will spend the night, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come.

Day 2: Arusha – Serengeti National Park

On days 2 of your adventure,, you will head North after your breakfast. You will enjoy the beautiful wonders of the Tanzanian landscapes as you proceed to Ndutu in the south-eastern part of the Serengeti. Our drive today is around 280km, five hours of changing scenery before we arrive at our destination. Although Nature and its rainfall determine exactly where the migrating animals will be in winter, Ndutu is a reliable base at this time of the year, allowing us to maximize our opportunities for tracking the animals.

Serengeti is of course a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an incredible mix of grasslands, savannah, woods and mountain scenery, a haven for the wildlife which congregates in this fantastic natural setting. On arrival, You will make the most of your time with an afternoon game drive in the Ndutu area. After the whole day journey and game-drive, your driver will take you safely to your accommodation for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Serengeti – Ndutu Area

On this day, you will have the whole day ahead of you in the Ndutu area, spotting all varieties of wildlife ‘on the move’ with our expert driver-guide. Each day is different here, but the main focus  is on the Great Migration, that authentic natural wonder which involves a cast of breathtaking numbers, literally hundreds of thousands of animals as they make their annual journey across the plains.

Zebra and wildebeest are the most numerous of the migrating animals here, grazing on the short-grass plains of the Southern Serengeti and the Northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation area. But your driver-guide will also be on the lookout for other wildlife, too, using his expertise and ‘eagle-eyes’ to try to find elephant, lions, buffalo, leopard and cheetahs, so that you can spot them in this stunning place.

In the evening, get back to your accommodation for a cool drink, some relaxation, a delicious dinner and the chance to discuss what you’ve seen during the day’s safari… as well as to check your priceless photos.

Day 4: Central Serengeti National Park

Today our journey continues as we head from the edge of the Serengeti into its very heart…but not before we seize a final opportunity for a morning game drive around Ndutu, where we are sure to see something new. But now Serengeti beckons, and so we continue to head north and west into what is surely the world’s greatest park.

Day 5: Central Serengeti National Park

You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast,n t as you enjoy the  special feel of the true african nature, with sights and sounds around you. Thereafter, you will head for a full day adventure to the Ndutu section, so as to witness something new on your morning game drive. You enjoy the beautiful scenery, and also be entertained by the wildlife in the area.

Return in the evening, for dinner and an overnight.

Waking up in the Serengeti is something really special. Sights, sounds and smells of Africa are all around us, and ahead is a full day of adventure in the world’s most famous national park. After breakfast, we start today Calving Season Ndutu Serengeti with the morning section of our game drive in Serengeti National Park, marvelling at the stunning scenery, ever changing light and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by your expert driver-guide.

Day 6: A Day in the Life of a Maasai village in Ngorongoro Highlands

On the day 6, you will have breakfast and proceed  to visit the masai and  join the Maasai women and learn how to create the complex beadwork they are famed for. The tedious technique—and the ease with which they string the beads together is an important aspect in their tradition. Or, join the Maasai men as they tend to their livestock, and perhaps help them move their cattle to and from the grazing field.

You can also try wearing the  brightly colored, Maasai dresses, and join in the cultural dance. You will be amazed by the rhythmic drumming, shared laughter, and chanting sounds from all cultural gathering

Then, wind up the day by participate in an lovely Quiz session with the village elders. This is a great opportunity to dig deep into knowing their different tribes, the  people, asking questions about family dynamics, tribal medicine and healing techniques, their thoughts about technology, among others.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

The exciting sounds of Africa will rouse you from your sleep. We make the most of the day with a 08:00 start, heading off on our morning game-drive. Later, the adventure will continue when we travel up to Ngorongoro, another African icon.

It’s almost impossible to spend too much time in Serengeti and with more than 1.6 million herbivores – plus thousands of predators – there’s always something new and interesting to see. The changing seasons and natu-ral light simply add to the diversity. This morning your driver-guide will help you spot some more of the many species at Serengeti, teaching you about their fascinating habits and habitats.

After a pleasant picnic lunch, it’s time to drive eastwards to visit another spectacular setting for Tanzania’s wildlife, the famous Ngorongoro Crater. On arrival, settle in at the lodge while a tasty, hot dinner is prepared for you. Tomorrow, the wonders of the crater await us.

Day 8: Farewell

On the this day, you will bid farewell to Ngorongoro national Park with an enroute game drive as you exit the Park. Chances are that you might encounter elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, jackal,wildebeest, wallowing hippo, waterbuck, baboons… even the rare black rhino finds shelter here.

You will also meet more Maasai grazing their cattle in the area as well,  because they have been sharing with the conservation since 1956, and even after it was established as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1978. After an early morning  game drive, return to Arusha to cathch up with your flight back home.
