Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous Game Reserve) – One of Africa’s largest park, offbeat wilderness and UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful lakes and rivers. The spectacular Nyerere National Park covers 55,000 square kilometres of rolling savannah, lakes, rivers and deltas in Southern Tanzania. Home to the largest concentrations of elephants in the world, big cats, wild dogs, large herbivore mammals on boating cruises on the Rufiji River,day game drives and bush walks.
4-Days -3 Nights Flying Nyerere (Selous) Safari From Dar es Salaam Or Zanzibar
Day 1: Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve
You will start your safari in Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam Airport whereby you have to arrive 60 minutes before your departure time of 0800hrs. On Arrival in Selous Game Reserve Mtemere Airstrip at 0915hrs or 0945hrs, you will be met by the driver guide who will transfer you to the Serena Mivumo River Lodge for check-in. Then, at around 16h00 in the evening, depart for an adventurous and romantic sunset boat safari along the great Rufiji River to spotting hippos, crocodiles and birds, and enjoying the spectacular sundown. Return to the Serena Mivumo River Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 & 3: Selous Game Reserve
After early breakfast, depart for a full day game drive with picnic lunch in the Selous Game Reserve, exploring the game in the surrounding areas. Animals, including elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalos, zebras and even the rare African wild dogs, are common. Before the end of the day, you will return to the Serena Mivumo River Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Selous Game Reserve to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar
Early morning walking safari usually start at 6-6.30am after first-morning tea or coffee, accompanied by an armed ranger, and it will take around 2-3 hours long. Walking safari is a fantastic way to experience more about the Selous Bushes. After enjoying your breakfast in the morning, check-out followed by transfer to Mtemere airstrip for
the departure on a scheduled flight at 1030hrs or 1250hrs to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.
