7-Day Safari Itinerary: Meru, Sweetwaters, Lake Nakuru, and the Masai Mara
7 days/6 nights Meru, Sweetwaters(olpejeta), Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara Wildlife safari takes you for a 7 days Kenya safari to Kenya’s best National parks of Meru National Park, Oljepeta, Lake Nakuru National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve for Big 5 and birding safari.
Meru National Park was made famous by the book Born Free, detailing author Joy Adamson’s hand-rearing of orphaned lioness Elsa in the Park. The beautiful Rojewero River bisects the Park, and along its banks birdwatchers may be fortunate enough to spot the handsome palm-nut vulture and the very elusive Peter’s finfoot.
Sweetwaters Game Reserve and Chimpanzee Sanctuary
This 24-000 acre reserve saddling the Equator enjoys magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, and has an abundance of wildlife and tropical vegetation. Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the closest reserve to Kenya’s Capital City Nairobi to boast all of the “Big 5” game – Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo. Only 2.5 hours or 250 kilometers north of Nairobi on a paved highway, the reserve is easily accessible and has the highest ratio of game-to-geographical-area of all parks and reserves in Kenya.
